Web 2.0 Resolution

To better understand the concept of what is Web 2.0, it is necessary to take a look at the birth of web 1.0 and the Web. How the possibilities offered by the web have changed and evolved since its first invention. What are concepts such as web 1.0 and web 2.0 and how did these concepts come about?

What is the Web?

WWW (World Wide Web) means Web with its most common name. The World Wide Web means the world wide web. In the process following the invention and globalization of the Internet, the web (WWW) was invented by Tim Berners Lee at Cern in 1989. It was at this time that the birth of the web began. This new web technology has been called web 1.0 by the people.

How Was the Web Invented?

Inventor of the web Tim Berners Lee also had to invent new technologies to bring his world wide web project to life. These are the building blocks of the web, such as HTMLURLHTTP, Web Server, the first Web Browser, which invented programs and structures to make the web work.

What is Web 1.0?

Web 1.0 covers the period from the first invention of the web to 1996. When the Web (World Wide Web) was first invented, not everyone could have a website. In order to set up a website, it was necessary to know many newly developed technologies and to do the coding manually. As it is today, there were no ready-made site builderswordpress, etc. software, social media platforms and Content Management systems. In the early days, only scientists, various universities and some governments used the web and the internet.

When Tim Berners Lee invented the web in 1990, only 50 websites were built in 1 year. These websites were static and did not interact with the user. By 1993, with the opening of the internet to the public, there was a good increase in the number of web usage and websites. In 1996, it is known that there are approximately 250,000 websites worldwide. However, these websites were mostly static websites with no user interaction.

What is Web 2.0?

Now that we understand the birth of the web and the concepts of web 1.0, web 2.0 should be something different from web 1.0. In fact, when you look at it, there is no change in the basic technologies used. HTML, URL, HTTP, Web Server were also used with the same technologies.

But with 1 difference, the web pages that were now installed were interacting with the user. Users could set up their own blog pages without knowing coding. Google map, increasing use of social media, video sharing sites such as Youtube joining the web in 2005. Millions of searches every day in the Google search engine have removed the web from the static structure and the user has been given a dynamic structure.

How Did Web 2.0 Come About?

  • The biggest difference between Web2.0 and web 1.0 was that users did not need to know any web design or coding knowledge on the websites created.
  • With ready-made website building systems and easy installation processes, users can share content with very little technical knowledge, and the number of websites has increased considerably with the introduction of blog, personal site infrastructures.
  • Founded in the USA in 1998Google would have widespread use in the world day by day and would soon leave behind strong competitors such as Yahoo and Bing.
  • With the establishment of Blogger in 1999, people started to publish websites and share content through bloggers.
  • 2003 Google bought Blogger and now it has become free to publish blogs, and blogger developed by Google engineers has prepared blog sites where 100 thousands of people can prepare and share content with the free service it offers.
  • Web 2.0 concepts are a trend that was introduced almost around this time. The Web (World Wide Web) has grown a lot, and it has become a very large network that is used and interacted with by many users. People who have a say in the media industry, such as Tim O'Reilly, who thinks that a new era has begun on the Web, have started the web 2.0 trend.
  • Indeed, we can say that the web has evolved very seriously since its birth. The web, which was very difficult to use and had very limited users when it was first released, has now become easily accessible, manageable and shareable by everyone.

What are the Differences Between Web 2.0 and Web 1.0?

  • Web 1.0 wasn't helping people find something better. With Web 2.0, it helped people experience things in a good way.
  • Sites made with Web 1.0 used more technical knowledge and old version technologies. With Web 2.0, site installations were made without the need for code knowledge and web design, and with the introduction of new players such as HTML5, CSS, and javascript, it enabled the design of animated and user-oriented web pages.
  • While static content was shared in Web 1.0, millions of sites were established with web 2.0 where dynamic content was shared
  • There were no interactive applications in Web 1.0. With the entry of players such as Youtube, Google, Blogger and Facebook into the scene in Web 2.0, everyone who uses the web can interact freely and easily on the web, produce and share content.

Result?

No matter how much concepts such as web 1.0 and web 2.0 and web 3.0 are introduced, the development and evolution of the web is accelerating day by day. In the future, we will watch together to what extent the development of web and internet technologies will take us.

However, I want you to know that I am sure that today, after reading this article, everyone can say that I wish we had made a website when the web first started to become widespread, now I have come a long way. However, do not forget that the sooner you step into the professional website design and digital marketing journey for your business and your company's online reputation, you will not be late in the future.
